    Really!

Just had a quick whip around on militaria on e-bay Aus, I must have missed something in the translation as the prices for bayonets has somewhat escalated beyond reason.
The No.9's now are going for $180 - $280+/Aud with No.7's asking $400-$500+/Aud and the kicker was the No.4 Cruciform at $680/Aud, asking and getting are two different things I know that part of the deal but seriously that much!
But it just seems of late that the prices have jumped markedly here in the last 6 months even the '07 bayonets have gone skyward along with other military stuff.
Three years ago you could get an SLR bayonet and scabbard for around $80-$100/Aud now they are wanting $280 - $380+/Aud.
Far out what is happening is there a sudden spike in ppl realising they don't make them anymore or what!

Half the time I believe they're fishing. Ours are the same. Thing is, if you need to find one, they aren't making more. If it's a good one you grab it because I doubt they'll legislate against them. They might be the only un-papered thing we can collect.

I'm picking up some brass and projectiles, they're the same. I just bought a 105mm Leopard tank case, was $225CDN delivered. A nice brass "C6"...sad, I had two I picked up after the tank ejected them during a firepower show and sold them at about $35CDN each in '96.
    Regards, Jim

There probably isn't many countries that still have WW2 era kit and earlier in storage (apart from Russiaicon) and therefore there isn't the stuff being released into the collectors market that there once was. I remember a UKicon dealer once telling me that he purchased a huge number of 1907 bayonets after they were turned out of storage from a European country. It may have been Greece if I remember correctly. He did sell them at a very reasonable price but eventually when they were all sold the prices of 1907 bayonets started to go up in the UK.
