    Barrel Band ?

This Barrel Band to me looks fake. By looking and reading posts and back posts about the cut of the inside band should be inside the edge of the outer band. Plus I see a roughed up area where it could of been cut, but not sure. Does this look fake to you ?

Looks to me like one of the better reproduction.

The information about the cut being inside of the top part is for a type 3 bayonet lug band being cut down to a type 2. The type 1 is never cut for any reason. The type 2 bands appear to be the most rare.

Frank, that applies more to the Type II bands than it does to the Type 1. That one is a Type 1, and I tend to agree with Bill. - Bob

I agree with the above post, it was the 3's that were cut to be passed off as 2's which are rare. Type 1 bands are getting harder and harder for me to tell apart, some you can tell right off because the metal is thin and shinny black. I guess the bigger question is do you wanna be wrong for a $189. OUCH

$14.95 at Sarco recently and you won't have to clean off the grease and lint. - Bob

Thanks Guys, I didn't know, Now I learned something else about parts of the MI Carbine. He also has 2 Flip Sights that are fake and are way over priced. It kinda looks like he added some grease like that one guy from Riverbank.

Seeing those items from that seller would make me stay away from them for any item.

I agree. This guy offers a lot of repro junk dirtied to look old in bad photography. However, he did a really good job on this band if it is fake. Calling it a Rock-ola because of the weld marks pattern was a a bit too much. I think the humpers are getting too good. Neal Meyers said it very well a couple years ago, if I may paraphrase '...in ten years the fakes will be so common that nobody will be able to tell the difference'.
