    What is this rifle???

    Greetings all,

While on vacation last week I had a brief look at .22 rifle I am not familiar with. It appears to be possibly a training rifle. On rear of barrel was a stylized target with an arrow piecing it from about the 7 o'clock position. 1966 stamped deeply on receiver ring above chamber. Magazine fed, bolt action, schnabel (large & bulky) forend. Did not have acamera with me so pics not an option. Any info appreciated.

PLLEEEEEZE produce some kind of a picture. It's driving me nuts - I'm sure I've seen the arrow/target logo somewhere, in the UKicon, but can't find it in any book. A picture might well trigger the correct brain cells into action!

Brain cells triggered into action - but it might not be the right answer!

Are you sure that the arrow enters from 7 o'clock?
Could it be intended to be seen rotated 90 degrees, i.e. with the arrow coming in at 10 o'clock?
Is it a very fat 3-D arrow piercing a round target black.

If the answer to all this is "YES", then you may have seen a small-bore rifle from Simson in Suhl, a very well-known maker.

Such a pity there are no pics!
