    L42A1 1/2 Inch Brush

Here is the elusive 1/2 inch brush which must be one of the rarest items for the CES kit

If you look it up under the NSN it is classed as a "paint and artists brush".

Yes.. using the 8020 - 99 designation... I doubt if there is stock held on that number..

What did you look it up on?

According to the CES the brush description is :

Brush Artists Flat 1/2", 8020-99-943-0422 or
    Brush cleaning Small Arms 1005-99-961-7994

I have only seen this type (circular, yellow) in any L42A1 transit case.

Mine are not the best, but they are not too bad. I can think of lots of Enfields I'd rather have but instead of constantly striving for more, sometimes it's good to be satisfied with what one has...

I believe the scope tins made in the 60/70s for the L1A1 had a storage element for the brush.

I have the same 1/2 inch flat brush in my L42 CES. Besides the one bravo2zero posted I have only seen one other.

Managed to find the image of the only other 1/2 inch flat artist brush I have seen in the L42A1 CES. I would be interested to know the history of this flat brush and if anybody else has one or seen one. I have only ever seen the round brush with yellow collar in the L42A1 CES examples on this forum.

    Cheers

I'd like to meet the clown in MOD who decided these two brushes were necesssary in the L42 kit in the first place, ridiculous.
You can imagine how it went across the office, "Sir we have a glut of Charlie G brushes cos we ordered too many, where can we put them, and also, a load of paint brushes nobody wants, likewise"
They are about as useful as a porcupine in a Durex factory!!

    1/2 inch brush

Couldn't resist adding mine to the list.

Interesting, but what went into the Charlie G storage container in the lid & where is the storage position for the flat brush as everything else seems to have a "home"???
