    I wonder....

...if the guy who worked so hard to make this IP stock 'purtier' ever knew just how much his efforts cost him. What a crying shame.

On a glass half full note, look at it as buying the hanguard and getting the stock for free!

I have a Bavarian return stock that is modified to look just like this one. I want say for sure, but that's probably what happened.

Also, I love his description of the stock trimming as being "minor." I'd like to see what he sees as being major.

He is right, though. It was a minor "altercation" that led to the alteration. Cheers, Bruce.

I have an Inland stock that was sanded down in the wrist area [ but not like that]. It was done, I presume to fit smaller hands. I works great for my grandsons. So not all mods. are bad, only butcher jobs! GK

Who knows,.. back in the early sixties, that may have been on a $15.00 DCM carbine. There were many articles printed on how to sporterize your 'surpie'....

Given a choice of that one and some humped up junker, I'm using that every time. I would bet that this wasn't that uncommon during the war. Some dope on guard duty with a piece of sand paper and hours to kill. It actually looks pretty good.

If I had done that to my M14icon I would probably still be resting quite uncomfortably in the Portsmouth Brig. LOL
