Isn't that just an A2 type backup sight? Those are the ones Norinco sent on their AR15s, the carbines they imported. I used on for years on my build.

Basically rear sight for flat-top optics ready upper receiver. When used with optics it could be easily installed as a backup depending on the scope you maybe able to co-witness through the battery dead optic to use. I have also seen the full detachable carrying handle with rear sight used as backup but of course the optics has to be removed. Also seen the rear sight removable carrying handle used as the permanent sighting system due to a lack of optics in the unit. The flip up sights have pretty much pushed these rear sights to the side as they can be fitted to the upper and co-witnessed through the optics when required without having to install them under fire.
well what ever they are called , i like it and im getting one for the Armalite , i wont be using any optic on it , have a colt carry on it now but im carry handle heavy on the AR's right now , have an mid 90's Bushmaster DCM A2 on the way so was looking for something a bit different but with the old school vibe
