    For a RFI 7.62 SMLE, dated 1964...

    what would be correct bayonet to acquire? the WWI long blade or the WWII spike??

    they have completley different mounting systems. the SMLE takes a bayonet with a muzzle ring (although it dosnot go on th emuzzle but a lug below the muzzle) the Spike is for th eno4 rifle with a "bayonet" fitting on the front in the form of two lugs on the barrel. You would need any of the Indian 1907 pattern bayonets. Ideally for a refurb of that date which woudl be Indian Police you woudl want a 1907 with the Ashoka lion on it (and good luck in finding one of them)
