I believe this to be an original 3-43 SA annealed receiver..1471154..
Anyone else have one near it, originally annealed by SA? Andy
Purchased over 3o years ago, a complete rifle, with McF cartouche.

I've got one only 371 away from yours Except my EMcF cartouche is a little more worn than yours.

SA 1.5 receiver with SA 4-43 bbl

This came from Rock Island in 1975 on the receiver exchange program as listed in the American Rifleman. You could send a defective M1icon receiver to Rock Island plus $21 and receive a barreled action. The barrel is dated S-A 4-43 and has a TE of 1.0. This unit is about as new as you can find

Great information, and since Crock57 is so close to mine, and annealed...its probably an SA "quick fix" factory lead pot annealing, as opposed to U.S. ordnance in the field?

RCS, what is the SA sn? You mated it with the stock? Was the RIA still the U.S. Government arsenal, and is the barreled action totally original? I have an 8=41 brand new, but I like some hopeful WW2 service from mine..

Problem with trying to idenify and nail down when they did this is that they seemingly picked rifles out of sequence at SA and in the field so enough rifles were modified to provide adequate amounts of Grenade-launching capability. We know they needed thousands of Garands modified to create an adequate supply and there lies the proof in the pudding, some Garands very close to annealed receivers aren't.

Most I've seen posted are in the 1 to 2 mil range, mine is a six-digit, further proof of the randomness.
