    A No1MkV visited me!

    Hi everyone,

Just got back from a summer camping trip with the family. Fun time, even if without any Lee Enfields

Anywho, a nice fellow living about 30 minutes from my place visited me recently with his No1MkV (yes, I am jealous) and a couple other Lee Enfields. I did some maintenance on a No1Mk3, and I took the MkV apart and took some pics. We fixed the loose butt stock. Quite a treat to see this rare girl. Matching number on forend, bolt, receiver, barrel, and mag. I was told it is missing the stacking swivel and it has the wrong safety thumb piece. Other missing parts in the pictures are simply around on my table awaiting reassembly

    Lou

Doh, I should have cropped that out! Didn't notice

You're right. In that picture (picture071), the barrel you see is a crusty pitted No1Mk3 barreled action (unsalvageable). The good parts were used to retrofit another one that was in better shape but sporterized.

The metal on the MkV is in great shape (thank God!)

Well it's not mine, but yes, it's in great shape, headspace is ok, rifling is reasonably good... I think the owner will fire a few rounds soon.

Just tell him when he goes to fire it that you ought to be there to "work the bugs out" as his technical support!
