Anybody here collect Ruger revolvers ???

Had one come into the shop yesterday that interest me. It is a New Model Single Six in .32 H&R magnum. I remember the caliber but can't remember ever seeing one of these pistols. Built on the .22 size frame but has a steel backstrap/trigger guard and fixed sights. Case hardened and blued. Question is... are they common or not? Like I stated, I don't remember seeing one before.

    TIA,

    Emri

They aren't nearly as common as the 22 convertibles but Ruger sold quite a few of them on a limited run basis in the 80's. I like Ruger single actions but I don't follow them closely. I heard the 'baby vaquero' was to be reintroduced for mass production but that's all I know.

To tell if yours is one of the first ones, then it might be of premium value to a Ruger collector. You'll need to provide serial number info etc for that. Then perhaps somebody can give you production numbers and a ballpark estimate in regard to value.

Limited production item, IIRC. Had a burst of popularity with CAS shooters.

I bought an adjustable sight model in 1984 or so when they first came out and inherited a couple of the "Baby Vaqueros" in '94.

Ruger discontinued these for a lack of popularity, but they're fun to shoot. Cylinders are apparently just a bit too short to be rechambered in .327 Federal.

    baby vaqueros and SSMs

the baby vaqueros are not really "collectible" yet, although I suspect they will be someday (as all discontinued Rugers are).

    Ruger's Baby Vaquero

The SSMs (of which I own a 5") are long discontinued and VERY sought after by collectors (although not super rare). One in EXC shape with Box (98%) can easily go 500+ compared to similar .22 SIngle SIxes.

I shoot mine mainly with .32 S&W Longs.

I also owned both the the Buckeye Special .32/32-20 Blackhawk and a .32 Mag 4" SP-101, but they are/were both overkill for the calibers and I didn't shoot em enough to justify keeping em.
