    Colt M1904 HMG .30-06

    Is there a reliable source for total production of these? Sources vary from ~ 250 to 300.

    US Maxim Model 1904 in 30 cal

    Volume 1 of "The Machine Gun" by Lt Col George M. Chinn USMC states on page 173: "there were on hand only 670 Benet-Mercies, 282 Maxims Model 1904 and 158 Colts, Model 1895" this was on 6 April 1917

    Thank you. Then this does reinforce Chinn's book; right at the end if they were numbered 1 - 282 and apparently they were.
