Austrailian .22 patt.14 ?

I,m hoping that the good folks on this forum can explain alittle about this rifle. I know virtually nothing except that its a .22 enfield that was converted and made its way to Austrailia. A friend wanted me to buy him this rifle and has since backed out of the deal. So I need to know what I have and if $550 is a fair price. If additional pictures are needed let me know what you would like me to shoot and I will post them.Under the rear hand guard I found the numbers 1, II, III and a star after each.

Only about 1700 were made so $550 would not be unrealistic assuming the numbers match.

All the numbers that I could find match. I did look at the sticky and on the right side of my receiver it is blank. The ones in the post had ConD on them. What does this stand for and being absent on my rifle mean anything significant ? Also what does the I,II,II with the star indicate ? Does the import stamp hurt the value drastically on this rifle beings you said there were only like 1700 made ?
There are so many stampings and marks it can really confuse a new guy with a enfield !

The I,II,III with a star (there will be a A stamped in the middle) would be Lithgow inspection markings which would indicate your barrel has been replaced while in Australia.
The ConD marking means Converted, ConD II means a Long lee converted to the Mk1 SMLE pattern & ConD IV a Long lee to the MkIII SMLE pattern,
basically new production .303 SMLEs went though the following Mk's, Mk1/Mk1*/MkIII/MkIII*/MkV & MkVI.
A Patt'14 No2 made from a Cond MkIV would have a higher value to a collector, especially if it retained its original woodwork.
btw, the ConD marking has nothing to do with the .22 conversion.

Edited to add: Import markings & their effect on the rifles value is subject to: the individual, location, rarity, etc, here in NZ coming across import marking on rifles is reasonably rare, enough to make say a 'run of the mill' MkIII* SMLE that had one, worth less than one without, but finding in NZ a Patt'14 No2 made on a ConD MkIV with its original woodwork etc, having an import mark would be sad, but irrelevant to its value.
