I'm thinking about bidding on this

I saw this rifle on Gun Broker:

Enfield MKIII SMLE Sniper Rifle w/Cheek & Scope Pc : Semi-auto at GunBroker.com

Can any of you tell me about it?

    Thanks,

    Steve

i don't know much, but i know it's not a Mk.III. it's a No.4 Mk.1(?). and it has an Ishy screw in it. looks like it went to India at some point. i doubt it's all original, especially because it says F.T.R. (Factory Thorough Repair) below the year

like i said though, Enfields aren't my specialty.

It is mix and matched for sure.

I'm mainly after that scope and mount!

Just please don't re-renumber the bracket if you get it!

Same Indian(?) FTR mark as RobD's rifle. The rifle looks OK, what we can see of it.

It is pretty obvious that the vendor doesn't have a clue about these rifles and so anything and everything in the description should be taken with a pinch of salt. I would not buy it sight unseen.
