Question Canadian No.1 Mk.3 Rifles. Where were they Built?

    Hi,

One of the next milsurps I have on my list is a Canadian Built No.1 Mk.3. Were any of these Rifles built in Canadaicon? I have a No.4 Mk.1 LongBranch. But I've never heard of a No.1 Mk3 LongBranch.

Thank you for your replies in advance.

Canadaicon put it's money and production on the Ross rifle for WW1, and when the government of the day reluctantly conceded to replace it with the no1mkIII, it was supplied the rifles from Britishicon stocks. When Canada went to war in WWII, it was with British made no1mkIIIs until the Canadian made LongBranch no4s replaced them.

Right .... there is no such beast as a Canadianicon-made No. 1 Lee-Enfield .... the best you can hope for is a Canadian-marked one.

Canadaicon made barrels and rebarreled a number of no.3's but never made a complete rifle....BUT !!!! never say never in Lee Enfields. However; to date, a LB SMLE has never been found.

Canadaicon obtained most of its SMLEs from UKicon 1915-18 so any make in Brit system, Enfield, BSA, LSA, SSA, NRF, Lithgowicon, Ishapore, could be found Canadian marked.

My friend has a FR marked No1 Mark 3 and under the FR mark there is a '39
,presumably the year of manufacture. Bubba had a fairly light touch on this one
with just the wood around the front of the barrel missing.
