Recovered drill rifles, from what I've heard. Scopes made in China. I've heard bad and good stories about them. I have no first hand experience with them.

I have a clone that I have the same amount of money into($1000). It has a C-stock, all GI parts, and original A4 rings, base, and bolt. Topped off with a Weaver 330C.

I was lucky to find one with all of the said parts, minus scope, for $650 at a gun show.

    Again, I was lucky.

For what you pay for the Gibbs rifle, it's really not that bad. You can shoot the heck out of it and not have to worry about value. It's made to be a shooter, and will shoot just as good as any original A4.

I just prefer to hunt parts and build it/put it together myself.

From the few reports I have read by people who actually have the rifle, it is a good serviceable rifle.

The Chinese screwed up and the directions in which the windage and elevation knobs should turn has been reversed and Gibbs says they are stuck with it. Remember this is a replica of a inexpensive early 40s scope, so don’t except too much from it.

But all-in-all, every thing I read, it is a good rifle.

I got one and reversed the knobs on the scope. It's not a bad scope but gets fuzzy out around the edges. I changed out and put a old Weaver El Paso K4-60C on it and it'll shoot 1-1/2" @100. The stock is gorgeous and the action is smooth as glass. The trigger is 2 stage and has a crisp/clean break. I broke it in with my homerolls of M2 ball (1 gr. powder light) and am currently working up velocities/weights for accuracy/range for paper and Elk. I also have been looking at putting an original WW2 era scope on it, I'm that impressed. It goes out as much as my M1As (every weekend).

I understand the first ones have a nice 4 groove Pedersoli barrel on them. I am not going to buy one anytime soon, but there are takers out there for sure.
