A question from an old post

The same question was asked by another person in an older post, What are the WW1 & WW2differences in the slabsided firing pin knob?

    Yes, that's it.

The only mention of a difference I could find was that some have a "rougher" finish, doesn't help much.

Not sure this is definitive but the upper one is a '41 "dispersal" rifle, the lower a '17 SSA.

Are those the correct way around? Dispersals are commonly encountered with No4 cocking pieces (and/or butts).

Yup, I made a mistake. The dispersal is indeed on top but the SSA has a No.4 type piece. I was told that alcohol only kills the weak brain cells but I'm beginning to wonder about that. Nice picture though, huh?
