    Unmarked K98 Bayonet & Scabbard

I just got a K98icon Bayonet & Scabbard in a local 2nd hand store. The Scabbard is not numbered and has a parkerized type finish to it. The Bayonet is marked on the Pommel with "WaA 518" and with, what appears to be an Asterisk above it. There are no other markings I can see and I also removed the wooden grips and looked back there. The metal has a "brushed" finish to it. Can anyone enlighten me?

Are the grips wood or bakelite? What is it you need to know?

THe asterix is thought to indicate an accepted rejected blade, and the lack of any other marks would tend to indicate it is a commercial for police and militia purchase.

goto the link on my post, there is a mass of information on these, there is little more to say if there are no markings although the WaA shoudl identify the maker the user will be unknown
