    WRA WWII 7.92x57

I have some WRA 7.92x57. It comes in an off white colored box and is indentified in black letters. There is no date or lot number on the box. The cartridges are stamped on the face, WRA 7.92mm, nothing else.

I was told they were built during WWII by Winchester, for the Brits to use in their BESA machine guns they put into their early tanks.

I have pictures, but I am computer challenged and I've tried many times to post, even set up an account with photobucket. It's me of course, not the computer.

Can anyone direct me to a site or maybe even be able to ID what I have, if I send them the pics by email?

    It would be much appreciated.

enfield303t, this is all your fault. I was perfectly content to believe my deceased friend. Now, I have to know.

Well since retiring I know you have little else to do so now you have a project. Of course IF you are able to date the box I am interested in buying it, of course IF you are able to date it you are probably under the illusion you should charge me more?? LOL.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

    Hi Bearhunter,

I know it's frustrating until you figure out the exact steps. Have you seen new illustrated tutorials that show how to post photos?

How do I show pics from Photobucket, Flickr, ImageShack etc. on milsurps.com?

How do I upload pictures to my posts for storage on milsurps.com?

The top link is the method for adding photos by using photobucket and the bottom link is for uploading photos directly by browsing to them on your computer.

Scroll down to the bottom of each tutorial and click on the document and it will open up the instructions in a full page .pdf (Adobe Acrobat)

Then you can then print the steps and keep them next to your computer until you become familiar..
(Each page is a diagram of where to click and what the next page looks like)

    I hope this helps,

    ~ Harlan

PS -(I just sent you a PM - If you want to email the photos to me I'll post them here this time so everyone can help ID)

    Thumbs up

Your ammo was loaded for the Chinese in WW 2. They had a lot of pre war 98 Mausers and Bren guns in 8mm.

The Brits ALSO ran it in the BESA MGs, which were standard in a LOT of tanks, so your deceased friend also is right.

Thanks for this thread. I have a single round and NOW I know what the box looked like!

The idea of it being "furrin aid" ammo holds water, too. If it were for the US forces, it would have a military contract number and a milspec number on the box. This is how the Western (Winchester-owned) Carcano ammo was done....... also white box, come to think of it.
