Ever found your SMLE sn# in a book?!

I was looking at a book on line called Britishicon Enfield Riflesicon, Vol. 1, SMLE (No.1) by Charles R. Stratton, on page 135 I actually found my rifle's serial number. It appears to be either the first or last No1 MKIII before Ishapore swapped over to the No1 MkIII* production or something like that. The preview I'm looking at is not the most detailed.

My wife was not joking when she said that I could find the most interesting rifle at a vendor's table or gun show.

Could you imagine the reams of paper involved in listing the serial number of every one of these, just the listings being gathered on sticky's about survivors of a couple of lines would be rapidly growing, let alone the idea of listing the more common runs.
But, hey, if you wish to start, I will gladly add mine.

Like I've stated before I like to trace a rifle's life. Each of the old C&R rifles we collect is a piece of history that this latest generation doesn't care to learn about because they have their heads up there backsides with the latest TV scripted reality BS drama. When was the last time you saw a teenager sit down and listen to their grandparents tell then about growing up back then.

Personally I would like to start a book with each rifle I own telling about it's past. I would be amazing to trace a rifle back to the soldier that it was issued to then talk to them about it. If they are still alive today....
