If I'm not mistaken, the guy in prone is using a BAR.

You are not . There appears to be an ejecting case frozen in time above his hand. Is the smoke cloud in front of the 2nd rifleman fog from the river or the BAR " smokeless powder" muzzle blast cloud ? If from the BAR , I have a new appreciation of the comments from GIs concerning that.
