My first attempt at buying a K98 was a disaster. So how did I do this time? It has a good bore with a small import mark under the barrel. Not matching. Price is $410 shipped.

not bad. typical mixmaster, together with pre, early and later war parts. s/243 is the manufacturers' code for Mauserwerke Borsigwalde.

Early and nice Mauser. Late stock with most parts mixed. Looks OK to me and likely a nice shooter.

Well, not real good, but also not real bad.
I would have sold you a better rifle for about the same $$. Here are 3 examples -
1. S/42G Mismatched, RC, import marked. All E 63 Exc $350
2. S/42 1936 Mismatched, No RC X, NO import marks. All E 63 Exc $400
3. S/42 1937 " RC X, import All E 63 Exc $375
These have been reassembled with ALL correkt matching WaA parts and proper stocks.
