    Savage enfield safety lever markings

Was the safety thumb lever on Savage enfields marked with the "squared" S? Were some marked and some not? A pic would be great if anyone has the time.

    Savage safety

Two here, both '42 dated and both 4C rifles. One button cocker, one later style. Neither safety is marked, at least on the outer surface.

    They're marked on the inside.

As one might expect, Mr. Dick is spot on. Both pieces of the safety are indeed marked on the inside...

Purchased myself one of these beautys today to add to my Enfield family. S No 4 Mk 1* S marked but stock, barrel band, nose piece ,front sight ,rear sight, bolt head, cocking piece, steel butt plate.Very good cosmeticly witha bright bore. No manufacture date.60C5xxx with a B below. Does this indicate the date of manufacture? Any input by those more knowlegeable is greatly appreciated.I will post some picks when I find my misplaced camera.

60C serial block would put your rifle manufacture date around Mid-1943. As far as the "B", I have yet to hear or read a definite answer, just a lot of speculation.
