    Hi , i recently bought an M1917, lend lease to UKicon.
    What's menas P.W.O.R. on the stock ?

    No, it was rifle number 285 in the PWOR.

I suspect this rifle was issued here in Canadaicon for training before overseas in WW2, or after the war it was still in stores in their armory. The 288 could be anything...rack number for instance.
