'Nomadic' St. Etienne Gras 1874/80 carbine.

Found this piece at the local gun show over the weekend..I believe it started life as a cavalry carbine. Found it fascinating, had to have it. Story behind it is that the original owner who worked for a petroleum company back in the day was given it, and he brought it back in 1958. Was bought from his estate. Hope you guys enjoy the pics!

Nice find there! It's definitely got some history, and in pretty good condition it looks too

Its definitely got some history behind it, not to mention plenty of character. I noticed that I forgot to mention that this was brought back from Saudi Arabia.

It's definitely got that Middle Eastern vibe to it. I've always rather liked the decorations they do over there, gives them some uniqueness and style imho

Thanks! It's already gotten quite a few 'oohs' and 'ahs' from friends who have been over.
Everyone says of historic firearms 'if only they could talk..' I would give this one quite an audience if it could. I can only imagine the stories it could tell.
And yes, I did watch 'Lawrence of Arabia' the other night while holding it!

I thought I was the only one who did that. At least I'm not the only one.
