He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.
Good grief . He didn't do that with his lit'l AT grenade , did he ?
Chris
I doubt it, eh? But that's what I was thinking. It made me laugh when I saw what you posted.

Real men measure once and cut.
Funny and probably true.

But not a Sherman.
That may have been an artillery round or an Allied attack aircraft.
Could a Sherman Firefly do this ?
Chris
From what can be seen in the picture, I would expect it was an artillery round - possibly 105mm Howitzer, or something like a 250lb aerial bomb that penetrated the top front of the hull before detonating. It looks as though the top of the hull has been blown open from the inside, with the front part apparently missing, and the turret lifted off. The only thing else I can think of that could cause that kind of damage is the rounds store inside the turret detonating for some reason.

I think it's the total destruction that this picture shows . Kinda like the car crashes ringed by road flares , you try not to look , but.....
