    Question Price check?

A friend is considering selling an 1895 Chileanicon Mauser, made by Leowe's and chambered in 7x57. Appears to be all original, slight surface rust and minor pitting under the wood, otherwise appears to be in good shape and all original. I'm interested in buying it if I can afford it, but neither of us knows what a fair price would be.

What is the going price these days for an 1895 Chilean Mauser? He says his is an "intermediate" length (I guess that would be a "short rifle"?) with a 22" barrel.

As a related question, I think I saw in another post here that Chilean Mausers made by Leowe's are all pre-1898 and don't have to be shipped through an FFL. Is that correct?

Condition is everything of course but from what you are describing, sounds about average for one of these. They are fairly common in my area and go from $150-$300 with the $150 having dirt, rust, pitting, and the $300 usually being rust and pitting free. Start getting nice bluing, etc the price keeps going up.

I would double check the chambering, many were altered to NATO and this rifle isn't exactly designed for those pressures. Sportsman's Guide was selling a lot of these for about $400 earlier in the year which is way overpirced.
