Sight on an Enfield Jungle Carbine

    Hello.
I recently purchased a beautiful Enfield Jungle Carbine and am quite enamored with it! I do find the rear sight a bit perturbing. The peep on the ladder is quite nice for shots between 200 and 800 yards, but the aperature on the battle peep sight (used for shots below 200 yards) IS HUGE!!!!!! There is no way I could make accurate shots with it.

I am wondering if any members have had good results with swapping out with a Parker Hale rear sight (details please), or any of the "no drill" scope mounts?

    Thanks!

The "battle sight" is .... exactly what it says. That´s why it´s "huge".

You can use the smaller aperture at closer ranges by lowering the sight two or three clicks below the 200 yard setting. And at low light levels the big peep works great!

(Might be best to move this thread to the L-E forum?)

I suppose I should be more specific unless your No.5 already shoots the ammo of your choice exactly to the factory markings. The two to three clicks is below the actual 200 zero- where ever that ends up on your sight! Usually there's enough travel to get a good 100 yard zero without bottoming out the sight. If so, no worries! Otherwise you might want to round up a little taller front sight.

Both my Fives now have Parker Hales. Mainly just to keep up with the local Mouser competition.
