I swore myself off of projects, but couldn't resist these!!

Came across three interested Enfields marked as Britishicon Enfield bolt action rifles. Noticed the sights right away. Looks like EFD has most of the wooden parts I need. I guess I did okay as both rifles have un cut original barrels, original No 1 Mk V rear sight assemblies and original "V" marked safeties. Both rifles are 1924 models. The bores cleaned up beautifully!! Both rifles need a good cleaning. I see EFD has repro rear sight assemblies for about $430 US. With taxes, etc I paid about $190 for each rifle.

The third rifle was a mostly complete rifle (less the reinforcing band) that I missed at $450. Was probably a better deal than my two sporterized rifles.

First rifle has matching bolt and the bluing is in excellent shape. They added a homemade front sight protector and drilled through the front sight base (will need to replace). The second rifle has a mis-matched bolt but both rifles have matching and un-cut original barrels.

I have a couple of originals in the safe and sold a third a few years ago.

Looking forward the "after" photos. Even if it takes a few years.

There were two variations of this rifle. The conversion from Mk3 or 3* that was to cost 18 shillings and the new build that was to cost 21 shillings. Be interesting to know what one you have. The serial numbers were all mixed up through the programme as we had a couple of each (?) at Warminster. Interesting to see especially the converted woodwork

Nice find Brian, there is enough meat on both to splice a piece in the fore-end. If you want any info PM me. I still kick myself for not bending the plastic early this year for a really nice No1 MkV at auction.
