Question No. 7 Transit Chest on Auction- Authentic ??

Lee Enfield Transit Chest | eBay

Description advises, "repainted". Are those leather handles correct? I have no intention of bidding on this, just curious.

The handles are not leather, they are the correct webbing that was used on the slings. The box does look correct, although the price may be a tad steep, especially for a repaint.

    Good Day,
The seller of the No 7 chest actually made me a chest years ago for my Australianicon No1MkIII H.T. It needed to be about 1 inch longer than a standard No4(T). He did a really nice job so I would not be too worried if he repainted it. His previous work was outstanding!

    That's a lovely No1MkIIIH.T. - looks like a low turret, am I correct?
If so, I have the same, but I lack a cheekpiece which would be useful. Do you know if the low turrets generally had or lacked cheekpieces?
Does anyone who makes repro cheekpieces for these, or sells originals?
    PM me if any leads.
    Rob

    Rob,
I had three of them at one time and two of the three never had one installed. I have one here that does have it but it's a rifle that was only surplused from Australianicon Army stores in the early 1980's according to the previous owner in New Zealand, (now deceased). I would say it was added at a later date. If memory serves, GPC/Numrich in New York had reproductions made to Australian HT specification rather than No.4T which is distinctly different.

For that kind of money, I've got a fortune in the yard! But if anyone wants original CNo.7 hardware, I'll include a rotten chest.
