It looks refinished to me. It may be a trick of the light (again) but the finish looks like it is inside of the English Proof marks and US Country of Origin mark.

Agree with bearhunter re finish. Suppose with the ishapore screw it's probably ex indian. I wonder if the pads have been replaced maybe with modern repros - screws look flat, front pad looks quite 'square',staking holes look too big and screws clearly shy inside the reciever. Unless this is a known indian type replacement?
Foreend looks original in some ways - but weren't the numbers normally stamped length ways as opposed to across? Can't see TR or S. I suppose a Faz sniper would be rare but there are some questions.

This is only IMHO - please bear this in mind, but personally I would give it a wide berth. It has been refinished. The pads are IMHO reproductions; look at the rear pad - the screw holes are IN LINE, not offset above & below the centre line. The screws in the front pad are flat heads not instrument heads & they finish short on the inside of the receiver wall (have seen this to a slight degree on LB's but NEVER on UKicon rifles unless 'got at').

Got to take the wife shopping so that'll have to do for now!
