    Vz 52 Firing Pin Length

    Hello,
Would any one out there know the overall length of the Vz 52 firing pin. I want to verify that it is the part I need to replace to cure misfires I have from time to time. I've replace the springs,(Firing pin, recoil spring, ejector, etc.) Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

No sir; I have the adapter installed to use 7.62X39mm ammo. I was shooting Wolf 124 gr FMJ...I took the bolt out and measured the firing pin after a session at the range and it measures less than a 1/16" inch when pushed in as far as it can go. out of 20 rounds I got 3 FTF and the strike on the primers are shallow. I'm guessing the firing pin has worn; I've changed the springs(ejector, recoil and firing pin). the old ones felt so loose. After the new ones were installed, the action felt more responsive.
I've looked online and have not had any luck finding a firing pin. I'm trying to find out the overall length so if I can't find one, maybe get my gunsmith to make me one or possibly build it up with weld and then turn it to length; (if it can be done).....

Just ideas which you may have checked.
Any gunk or foreign object in the firing pin channel.
Any burrs on the firing pin.
Absent a true measurement it's hard to tell if the length is correct but since it is firing you should be close.
Can you add length from the rear at all? Maybe polish or remove some material a little at a time until it protrudes enough that it fires reliably.

I ran a .22 cal bore brush down the firing pin channel, rinsed it with solvent, and blew out any trash; polished the pin w/ emery cloth and steel wool.
The pin has a cut out for the retention pin that holds the pin spring loaded in place; when the hammer falls on the back it allows the pin to move forward so far and then springs back. I may be able to use a dremel tool to relieve some metal from the backside of the retention area and/or the back of the bolt where the hammer strikes it. that may allow the pin to move forward a bit more. remove a little and try it out and so on.
