    My only 1903

This is my only 1903. Barrel is (as you can see) HS 12 44, I recently moved and this was way at the back of the safe. I think the last time I saw it was 2008!

Not that I am aware of, I have only wiped it down with a very light coat of BLOicon.

One of the nicest examples of a late-war rebuild I have seen!
People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Is it normal for the area below the recess to be crushed by a closed bolt as seen in picture 4?

Somebody may have tried to use a turned down bolt on it (i.e. a bolt turned down for a scope).

Nice rifle! I like the early Scant stocks make by SA. Is it possible for the rifle to be, not a "re-build", but an original build of spare parts? Maybe the stock was used as NOS?

The semi-circular relief under the bolt was done by an arsenal, but the dent below does look like another bolt was smashed in. Who knows?

    Mike
