Tour of Small Arms School Weapons Collection Warminster

    Hi
Just a quick heads up, I have just booked my self to visit a guided tour of the Army's unique collection of historical small arms on Friday 13th September. Day is being run in conjunction with Heritage Open Days. Only 40 places so if you want to go be quick

I almost was posted there in the 90's. I'd have love to live there for two years and tour it at leisure...

    Hi
I am gutted to be told that the small arms tour has been cancelled and will not take place again. Missed it the two previously years due to family commitments but had it all planed for this Friday for myself and my wife.
Will now have to console my self with a day at the range instead

Not one to say '.....I told you so' but you all must have known that these things were MUCH simpler to arrange and do while I was there, even at weekends. The Military really do have their hands full

On a related topic, Ian Skennertonicon is selling a video in the Quartermaster Stores ...

'The Pattern Room & Herbert Woodend Memorial' has video and digital photos from both Museums Tours to Englandicon, other video and stills I took on various visits, and more from the National Firearms Centre at Leeds, with their permission for publication of course. DVD also has vision from our Museums Tours in 1998 & 2006. I am sure many forum members will be interested anyway.

The 40-minute DVD has historical details of the Tower of London, the Pattern Room, RSAF Enfield, MOD Nottingham and other related arms manufacture in England. There are images of Herb Woodend (he was camera shy), his contribution and a eulogy for dear Herb. I'm afraid too many cigarettes and more than a fair share of alcohol contributed to the cancer that took him at a relatively early age in July 2003. The whole DVD came together quite well, I am probably my own harshest critic so that serves as a benchmark.
    Regards,
    Doug
