    New HRA Garand

I just bought this #55347xx HRA Garandicon and it appears that the only part not HRA is the SA bolt. This one is a real beauty and the pics don't really do it justice. I copied these photos from the ones the seller had posted as mine usually don't turn out this well. ME 1+ and TE 2+ and the barrel appears original, dated 11/54 which corresponds closely with the receiver...10/54. The safety is marked F which I am not familiar with, however. I was also wondering if that stock is correct for the serial range since it has the serifed P on the grip. Seller told me the only thing he did to it was change all the springs.

Good looking rifle, can't say about the correct markings on it.
    Regards, Jim

A safety marked F is an International Harvester part, not HRA.

---------- Post added at 09:59 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:51 PM ----------

The stock looks like it's a Springfield Armory post war. 1/2" DAS (eagle with stars) with serif P. Some very early HRA stocks had a 3/8" DAS cartouche and serif P....those are rarer and appropriate for HRA's in the serial range of 4.6 I think? So...early. Most HRA stocks have a sans serif P and 1/2" or 3/8" DAS. Also HRA's have the "big back porch" where the rear of the receiver has a thick section of stock behind it. Personally I like look and feel of a post war SA stock on a Garandicon.

Post war SA stocks are also getting harder to find.

Nice looking rifle . From the readings I bet she shoots nicely.

Thanks for the info on the safety and stock. No chance to shoot it yet but it should do pretty well.(assuming I do my part) Hopefully get out with it later this week and try her out.
