Energa Rifle Grenade Launcher Leather Carrying Pouches

If anyone's after an example of the Britishicon issue type pouch, Silvermans appear to have acquired a small quantity:

BRITISH ARMY ISSUE LEATHER SHEATH FOR FLARE. ww2 but not dated. good used. rare | eBay

I believe they're fairly scarce? They've been misidentified, so grabbem' while they're hot.

I'm rich! (Again) My one is much better nick and only cost three or four quid off Jeremy Tenniswood. (It was while ago though - he was still in Aldershot.)

There appear to be two different versions of the pouch. The more common has the "lift the dot" form of flap closure. The more uncommon one has a more normal button that snaps onto a stud. Info for what its worth.

These were quite rare in the commercial world because when the L1A1 rifle energa launcher came on stream, the No4 ones were returned and the pouches retained for the 'new' L1A1 launcher. It suddenly dawned that the pouch for the energa launcher was on the side of the 58 pattern pouch so quartermasters were told to dispose of the pouches or return them to Ordnance. Due to there unsuitability for pretty any other application in the known universe, most, if not all, went straight into the bin!

Hahahah, I used to keep my knife, fork & spoon in that pocket on the side of the 58 pat pouch!

Yep, I think everyone did! I only ever say the energas used once or twice. First time at Warcop in the 60's and second time in the 70's or so - to use them all up-! The irony was that during the 60's they were being used against those tracked 'weasels' (or were they Buffaloes?) that were the hard targets.

But, any forumer............ if you need one, I'd get one while you can
