Hi all - using my old account here but I posted as BenH on the Jousterforum.
I wanted to post a warning to members keen to get a bargain 32 scope. I found an ad for a no32 mk2/1 with bracket on a website called gumtree - some local listings site. Anyway the person said she was selling it for her husband abroad on business (she lives in Shttland). It was the scope, bracket, pads and tin as it turns out and I got it down to £850. They said they'd set it up with DHL to deliver so I would only ok the cash on delivery - everyone's happy and safe.
Get an email from DHL - I'll post the text in case someone googles it and it might help them:
"DHL Worldwide Express reduces risks associated with Internet transactions by acting as a licensed, trusted, neutral third party for online transactions. The Seller leaves the merchandise into DHL custody. The merchandise will remain in DHL custody until the Buyer provides the payment informations to DHL. The payment must be made through a Money Order Service. Once the funds are verified by DHL, the merchandise will be delivered to the Buyer. Once the Buyer receives the merchandise, the payment information will be released to the Seller only if the Buyer is completely satisfied with the merchandise. If the Buyer will not be satisfied with the merchandise, DHL will deliver the merchandise back to the Sender".
They'd only accept cash to a Western Union named individual and wouldn't use the online payment service. So it was an obvious hoax I suppose, regardless of how much I wanted to believe them.
I called DHL and they said they offer no such service.
So beware Shetlanders bearing gifts fellow enfield addicts!
