1942 South African marked Savage marking

Hi,
I just acquired this nice, but mismatched Savage No4 Mk1* serial 35C2522. Small arrow in U on the receiver ring.
There's a marking I can't seem to find info on...possibly missed in one of my books or the interwebs. Wouldn't be the first time....any info would be greatly appreciated!

M/260 = Walls Ltd., Birmingham. That would be the manufacturer of the metal cap on the hand guard.

I odnt suppose anyone makes these rivets? Ive never seen them advertised, nor the pins for the lower metal cap.

We had loads of them but they buried deep in the store room somewhere, so had to buy some more recently, we just made a little lathe fixture and hollowed them out with a centre drill

Look for semitubular rivets or tubular rivets. Aircraft usage calls 'em AN450. Need a squeezer set of some sort to upset them properly.

In the later days of the No4 rifle, those pins plus the trigger and sear axis pins came as a 6 or 8" length that you just cut off for length as required and chamfered to fit. So SHOULD be available from the usual sources such as model engineers shops etc etc
