.50 Boys rifle, need info please

Has anyone here owned a Boys? Anything important to look for? Problems with conversions?

Looking at one done years ago by Tiffany Arms. Anyone heard of them or quality of their work?

    Thanks!

I've had dealings with them in the past, what were you going to convert it to?

I assume it's now in .5" Browning, if so I doubt there will be any issues. The only issue with mine other than being a non firer is that the cheek rest split and the butt pad is shot.

Off track a tad, but I had a couple of .5" M8C rifles a couple of years ago and thought of making one into a UKicon acceptable straight-pull spec shoulder fired rifle. Quite a simple job - on paper. But ammunition was soooooo expensive! Cost as much as .55" boys here. Oh well.

It could be made. Dies are available...and you'd need a forming die, inside neck ream, RCBS 50 cal press, a reasonable supply of .50 brass...what else?

I hope it's got the muzzle brake, or else it will be 'too much gun', in my limited experience.

I let my little boy who was only about 13 or 14 at the time fire our Boys and a Barratt while I was at Warminster. Under strict supervision of course and standing, leaning forwards in a fire trench. I looked over at him after a couple of rounds from each, just to see if he was OK and he seemed fine. Doesn't remember that particularly. Certainly not as memorable as the AKM or the Thompson gun

Peter, can you perhaps tell me the barrel length on an original Boys?
