So how much weight would that sight add to the gun?
I think it's about 7lbs, with another 20lbs of battery and power supply. Note the cord going down his chest. Probably the battery in the grass trick.

Those old night sights were a nightmare. They made the rifle about un-useable. Most the time the sights only just worked...mostly...

Thank goodness they were used at night time. It would be very hard to keep concealed with that thing.

They were horrible...I'm glad we have smaller stuff now. Too bad it wasn't around when we had to carry all that stuff...

Crikey, what a nightmare. Fascinating pic though. Is that a pair of binos mounted on his helmet? Just to add to the fun?
