For that money, the seller hasn't even cleaned the dust off it!

Seriously Brian 4 Grand is way above the normal plateau for these scopes even if it may be NOS which it is not as it is fitted to a bracket, fleabay is the cause of inflated prices and I will be the first to admit being caught in the hype of bidding wars wanting to own something I feel fits in with my eclectic collecting on WWI/II memorabilia. And isolating the item from Intl sellers narrows the field somewhat anyway I will watch it and see where it goes. Would be interesting to see where its partnered T is. Also interesting to see the case though numbered to the scope is the incorrect designation of the Mark of scope it being stenciled as a Mk II whereas the scope is clearly a Mk III guess they can have errors in the amoury as well.

In Aussie dollars at the current exchange rate it equates to = $5,642.15

Hey guys, I didn't price the thing. I just said I know the seller and he's good people. I KNOW I can't afford it. All these auctions have made it near impossible for me to buy good items to turn over to guys like you at a reasonable price where everyone is happy. I've seen people pay some really stupid money for stuff on auction sites, (I'm not one of them). I feel that many who spend all their time carousing auctions should really get out more but that's just my humble opinion. I'm sure someone will let us know if it sells or not.

How else does one come across bargains if you do not surf the world wide web, I know wait till you get a feeling, a bird cr*ps on you, the sun rises in the West! hands up those who do not surf the web to find an item they would like or to buy and move on at a meagre profit I think post #5 alluded to the web pushing prices that has caused shrinking profits for business's. I would like to say that I was not referring to the sellers type of character but referencing just how things are sometimes. I have picked things up on fleabay that should have sold for allot more than what I paid for them and the reverse, it is just what you desire at the time and how much money you have spare. And sorry Brian you do not know what "a guy like me is like" as I have not had the pleasure of meeting you face to face but I have brought items from you as per your web page.

My hand is up. I almost never search the net for things to buy, except for bits and pieces to move forward on projects already in hand.

I only look for stuff I need. I couldn't be bothered haggling over something just to re-sell it.
    Regards, Jim

The scope case is correctly marked as No 8 Mk2 and refers only to the case Mk and not the Mk of its matching Mk 3 scope.

Just curious, but about what would a canvas scope case like that sell for by itself now days?
I have one, as a bonus it came as a second scope case along w/the metal one that matches to the rifle that was in the chest of a 44 Enfield "T" I bought. So I coupled it with my Trials rifle. I know it's not correct for the rifle's date but the Trials rifle had a later/non matching MkII scope on it anyway. Ray
