That reminds me of the horror stories my Dad's uncle told of the giant black spiders crawling out of the rubble on Sicily. Said a buddy found one in his shirt ugh.
Mine told me of the scorpions of Italy, then I joined up and saw them in Cyprus...

They are hard on a "target". Doubt if they are worried about friendly muzzle flash/blast. It's the in your face stuff that is problematic.
Just another "what did you say?" generation of warriors.

Two M48s on the line at Ft. Drum, dopey Lieutenant stands between them using binoculars to look down range. BAM, they fire together, muzzle deflectors direct the blast to the side, they meet at the Lieutenant. He's deaf now.
