I looked at a pretty clean 1941 MN sniper today I do not know much about them but I was told by someone that knows Mosins that it was a real sniper. The scope is not numbered and the bolt is not a sniper bolt. It comes with the sling and bayonet. They want 750 plus tax and it would probably cost 100 to get the correct bolt . would 750 be a decent price? I am mostly into USCI but thought if the price was ok I would grab it

Might be a repro scope. Especially since the bolt is wrong. Legitimate examples with matching numbers are going for around $1,200. Gunbroker is the best place to check. Repros do go for around $700. Is the wood and metal in good shape? Check for rust I just purchased a 1903 rifle that had rust pitting under the wood. I'd try to talk the price down to $680 explaining you'll have to pay to get the bolt turned down. There are ways to check if the rifle was selected to be a sniper. If it's a Tula above the star on the top front of the receiver their should be Russian letters that look like "cn". Research and good luck.
I have a repro Springfield 1903a4 and I love it. It's not one of those Gibbs repros this was put together by a fella and has a legitimate Lyman Alaskan scope. Being a repro I don't mind actually using it.

Stay away. It's a slapped together rifle that probably don't shoot worth a s$$!. My 2cs.

Unless it is a rarely encountered PE sniper, then run. PU snipers were not introduced until 1942, and most are 1943 or 44 dated.

A "put together" 1941 PU rifle with a straight bolt is worth the sum of parts only. And with the unnumbered scope (sounds like repro), it's a $350 gun at best.

screws on the clamps of the scope mount on a real PU sniper will have rounded heads. if the screws are flat their repo mounts. if you do some research you can find out very easy how to tell a repo scope and mount from a real one. after a little reading you'll be able to tell very quick a repo from a real PU sniper.
