I wouldn't know for definite but at a guess, I'd say that the nation that purchased them would specify what type of sling they wanted. That's just based on my dealings with Sterling and their SMG's. Some nations asked for the standard UKicon Military type slings that we all know while others had plush leather. While some, Gxxxx, an impoverished African nation for example had a cheap, almost cloth material. I was told that that was because while the SMG's were purchased and part/mostly paid for by the UK Foreign aid fund, they had to pay for the slings and accessories themselves. Which meant no bayonets either.

I believe they are dark brown leather, with one of the large steel Bren hooks at on end.

I was wondering if they just removed the rear hook on the 26/30 sling. You guys always come up with the obscure facts so I figured it was worth asking here as a picture might materialize.
