Hi all,
Finally got around to cleaning up my grandpa's Type 38 trophy (he lied about his age in order to join the navy, but the war ended before he made it to Japan) and it looks like it will probably shoot well - the bolt is a hell of a lot slicker than my mosin and the rifling, though frosty, is well defined. I will take pictures once I get it assembled again.
I plan to get it checked out by someone with a lot more knowledge about this stuff (and headspace gauges) before firing, but I can already tell that I have a big problem - the stock is not safe. The piece of wood between the magazine and recoil lug has completely broken loose, and there is a nasty crack in the stock near the rear of the action.
As such, I am on the hunt for a new stock but my searches have been ineffective. Is Ebay my only hope? Are there any companies making new stocks?Information
