    No.8 Telescope Case?

    Hi
I recently purchased a very nice reproduction No.8 telescope case from forum member bigduke6. And I would like to make a stencil to add the words (RIFLE) to the lid. And would just like to ask what would be the correct colour paint to use? An original case I own has the words in yellow, but I have seen a number of them with white lettering. Also how was the paint originally applied, was it with a roller or sprayed on or a stipple brush etc.

    Thanks

We just stenciled them on with white paint stippled over the stencil. Later someone came over with some one-way-trip stick on stencils. Stick-on, peel the words out, stipple over, wait to dry and out it goes. Simple. All our tins were painted gloss deep bronze green as per the EMER

Terry, The original ones I have are yellow...... one is hardly visible anymore, I guess it was just a quick dab of the brush with whatever paint. if you look back at the one I repaired and refinished, I didn't have any yellow paint as such but had a small set of artists oil paints, I just used this with a brush over the stencil, takes a lifetime to dry but came out quite good.
