    G\K43 rifles

    Hi folks,

I notice there's not really a place for these, with over 400k of these being built I imagine there's some nice ones out there. Here's a matching example I picked up and imported earlier this year. I got the optic yesterday from a fellow collector and friend, its mismatched to the rifle but correct type and finish for the ac44.

    Cheers

Don't know, probably won't find out. Original parts are irreplaceable, and with plenty of vopo's and Bubba'd ones out there to shoot.

I'd love to have one but can't afford it.

I love mine, it's a great shooter. I have all the bits, but no scope. I had a spare Sovieticon PU scope lying around and using a small strip of leather as a shim made it a "perfect" fit. They ain't cheap, but worth it if you can find a good one.

    Cool

I developed a great liking for the G/K 43 rifles immediately after I got my first one in 1953. I had been hunting deer with a bring back K98kicon and the 43 became my new deer rifle. Don't remember when I got my first scope & mount.
I long ago quit using a matching rifle as a hunting rifle! My current - for the past maby 40 yrs is a mismatched G. I shortened the bbl by 2 inches just for the hell of it since it wasn't a collector piece and replace the sporterized stock with a new one made w/o the butt trap and put a K98k butt plate on it along with the regular 43 kick plate. My current scope set up is a repro scope mount with a ruskie SVT 40 scope on it. NO way am I going to use an original scope & mount, which I did for years!
I currently have somewhere around 15- 18 G/K 43s and at least 4 scopes & mounts + 4 extra scopes, 4 original mag pouches/mags and an extra original stock. Here is some of the heard.

Nice looking collection, likewise I don't shoot my matching rifles, impossible to replace a matching part, and I want to preserve the history and value. I've got FN Mauser in 30-06 that's worked fine for my grandfather, my father and I've had it for about 15 years.

Sarge, how did you shim the front of your PU/SVT scope?

I used a piece of leather to level the scope in the mount, works fine.
