BSA Aperture Sight Mouning Base Plate

I just picked up a nice BSA No. 9 aperture sight and was wondering if anyone knew a source for BSA mounting base plates. I really want to get this on on of my No. MkIII's and try it out.

I think I saw that one Eric!

Fultons would be a good place to start and after that I would wait for the arms fairs
at Bisley, during last years Trafalgar meeting I noticed a few for sale but couldn't ID them.

It was the one on the GB forum if that was the one you saw. Where is Fultons?? Do they have a website? I am in the US so unfortunately I can't go to those shows you mentioned. Wish I could as I bet there are a lot of cool bits to pick up.

Assumption is my worst fault!

There was a BSA No.9 on EBay in the UK and I had assumed, wrongly in this instance that you had bought it.
There was no mounting plate with it either which led me to thinking it was the same one.
Fultons is in the UK at Bisley Camp.

I was looking for the same item last year after buying a No9 rear sight. I contacted many people including Fulton's; and at the time they did not have any. Eventually I found one at Devizes Gunsmith's in the UK.
I would mention that Devizes Gunsmith's seem to be very busy! it was necessary to send a few e-mails as the phone was not answered. However I did get the part and am very happy with the service once I got a reply.
The fit was perfect. I used a laser line to check alignment with the original sight's at 200 and 1000 yards. It did not need any adjustment; which was lucky I guess!

Thanks for the lead... I just emailed Devizes and we'll see what comes of it. Yours looks great!! You have the later style BSA No. 9 sight. The one I got is the early 1907 model. Out of curiosity, how much did they charge you for your base and is it BSA marked?

The No9 site is actually AG Parker; so fit's in quite nicely with the rifle that's 1929. I paid 50 pounds for the sight plate. I believe it is also marked Parker, but I'll have to confirm that.
I had started making one from scratch when this one turned up! so I was lucky.
Alot of these sights and bit's are locked up in collections these days; it's so much nicer to get them back on a rifle!

True, but generally usually referred to in the UK as a BSA No.9.

The folding SMLE sight that is referred to as an A J Parker is the Parker Plus 5. Of all the folding sights this is regarded
as the best because of the heavier meaty feel to it which is lacking in the other early folding sights.

Thanks Mick; I was refering to the No9 sight on my rifle which was made by AG Parker.
I was aware that it's a BSA design that seems to have been made other companies later on.
This one seems to had little use; very crisp feel to the adjustments. I added the 6 hole iris; which I think is later manufacture.(but a worthwhile addition)

I still have not been able to identify the original mounting plate that came with it. There is a photo of it on another thread here; even Fulton's could not identify it!

I did find the picture and have had a couple of thoughts, W.W. Greener may be a possibility as they were in that market, albeit mainly small bore but did produce many accessories. Although they were always quick to mark their products!
J.H. Stewards the Bisley optician has been rumoured in the past to have produced various sight items, but the honest answer is I have never seen one!
