Cap screw came out of Op rod?

I have an uncut 9 SA op rod that the cap/screw blew into my gas cylinder after firing it. Can a new one be put in or is the op rod toast?

The piston heads are replaceable, the op rod is salvageable I think.

The piston heads for the operating rods can be replaced. They will have to be silver soldered into place. The new piston will probably have to be fitted to the gas cylinder first to insure a proper fit. Too tight and it will destroy the gas, too loose and the rifle will not function. I have seen a number of M1 rifles come back into the US where the gas cylinders were recovered and use with oversized piston heads. Some militaries did not have the luxury of new spare parts and recovered and recycled used parts to operational status.

I know the US did that sort of thing and there are US members that can also do that refurbishment. Someone here will know a source that can do it.

So I need to find someone who knows what they're doing? GCA back pages for someone maybe? This is a rebuild to correct June of 45 M1. I didn't rebuild it. Thanks for the help guys.
