    NRA Sporter Front Sight Question

What kind of front sight/front sight blade did the Springfield Armory install on their DCM/NRA sporter rifles? Here is the photo of the one on mine. As I've mentioned earlier, I know next to nothing about these rifles. Is that front sight blade an aftermarket replacement, a military blade modified to accept the brass bead insert, or what the Armory used on their sporters? Any information would be appreciated. Thank you!

You have the standard front sight with the military/issue front sight replaced with probably a Lyman sight blade. An easy fix....just install the correct height military blade.

Hmm, I don't know about that.
This rifle is about 98% certainly an original sporter sold by the DCM.
Did those have the standard military blade? In conjunction with the Lyman rear sight, I'd really expect something more like what we see in the picture above.

Thank you, gentleman, for the information.

As the rifle has been confirmed (as much as humanly possible) that it is a DCM Sporter that was either sold to a governmental agency or individual member of the military and thus is not a "hit" in the SRS records and has a Lyman 48 rear aperture sight, I see no reason to change the front sight blade.

    Thank you again!

    NRA Sporter front sight blade

There is no reason to change the front sight blade, but it originally came with the military front sight blade. Read any of the standard references such as Brophy to confirm.
