    L42A1 transit chest unit identification

I'm assuming the unit is 2nd Batt Coldstream Guards but I would welcome any input.

    Nigel,
Absolutely correct, London District. Sadly AT4954 is not on the L42A1 lists but there is AT5954. Not like an armourer to make a mistake, but we are talking about the Guards lol
Do you know the owner of the rifle to cross check the serial number or have you just acquired the chest?

I purchased the chest on its own. Originally came from Charnwood Ordnance.

Fairly certain it MUST have gone through the system as it is a prefix recognised, but very odd.

I have gone through the loads of L42A1 sheets several times now and no trace of that number.
Hopefully an error by the armourer who probably prepared the stensils.
I've made simple mistakes like that before, whilst you wait for paint to dry!!

    2nd Battalion coldstream guards
    4th Company
London District 74 (I think Windsor or Chelsea)
Packed to CES = (L42 CES No.)
BOD DON = (date) (when it was bonded with metal tape and sealed)
Then issued to a unit... more information on 2CG in the link.

Would any one happen to know the font used on these stencils?
